LZFBA Looking to Add Board Members

Complete new Board Member Nomination Forms by June 5, 2026.

----------------------

Over the past five years, our program has steadily evolved into a more unified and sustainable organization. After a full pause in ’20–’21 due to COVID, LZ Hoops (boys) returned in ’21–’22 under the leadership of Scott Rubicz and Jonathan Strauss, while Jr. Bears (girls) continued as a separate program with limited activity.

In ’23–’24, LZ Hoops began providing operational and logistical support to Jr. Bears, which expanded into full shared leadership across both programs in ’24–’25 with the addition of Frank Dohleman.

In ’25–’26, the Lake Zurich Feeder Basketball Association (LZFBA) was formally established as a 501(c)(3), uniting both programs under a single five-member board: Scott Rubicz, Jonathan Strauss, Frank Dohleman, Matt Soellner, and Dan Hemler.

Building on this progression, Jonathan Strauss will be stepping down from the Board of Directors following the conclusion of the current season, effective July 1, 2026. With this transition and continued organizational growth, the Board has approved expansion from five to seven members, creating three open Board seats for the 2026–2027 season. This expansion is intended to strengthen leadership capacity and support the long-term sustainability of both programs.

LZFBA is actively seeking interested, like-minded individuals who are committed to building a strong and sustainable basketball culture within the Lake Zurich community.

We are specifically looking to fill the following Board roles for three year terms, effective July 1, 2026:

• Scheduling

• Coaching Development & Support

• Communications & Data

Our Board seats are held on three-year terms, with 6-8 Board meetings throughout the year, or as needed, to oversee organizational direction and operations.

If you or someone you know is interested in joining the Board, please complete our Nomination Form by June 5, 2026.

For additional context on how Board positions are structured, please review our bylaws.

We are excited about the continued growth of LZFBA and remain committed to providing a positive, development-focused youth basketball experience. At its core, this organization is built on community, volunteer leadership, and a shared investment in helping young athletes grow through the game of basketball.
